Who We Are
Cadbury Open Innovation Team
Open Innovation was assigned a permanent champion at Cadbury in 2007, on the recommendation of the Chief Technical Officer. Since then the team has grown in size, responsibility and renown to become a core part of the global Cadbury innovation process.
A New Model
The Cadbury business model has always had its basis on innovation, underpinned by solid research and development. Our long heritage would not have followed the same path were it not for the strength of our global Science & Technology (S&T) function.
With all of our prestigious history and scientific capability in mind, Cadbury is fully aware that we cannot achieve all of our innovation goals alone.
We are convinced that others have breakthrough ideas that we may not have thought of and as a result we have committed to Open Innovation and forming relationships with people outside Cadbury. In fact, you’d be amazed at some of the places we now look for key relevant innovations: fields as far away from confectionery as metallurgy and astronomy!
How Does Open Innovation Fit Into Cadbury?
Cadbury S&T is organised around our three global categories along with a cross category fundamental science group:
· Chocolate S&T (primary bases in Bournville, UK and Melbourne, Australia)
· Candy S&T (primary bases in Singapore; Whippany, NJ and Melbourne, Australia)
· Gum S&T (primary base in Whippany, NJ)
· Fundamental and breakthrough science (primary base in Reading, UK)
Each of these branches of S&T has its own strategy, governance model and way of working based on the various business challenges in each sector.
It’s the Open Innovation team that taps into the long and short term needs of each of these four key areas of S&T and matches them up with innovative people and companies, like yours, with great technologies and ideas with the drive to grow with us and create the brands people love
